on a clock是什么意思呢？其实它的用法在口语中很常见和实用，我们基本上每天都会用到这个表达。
on a clock：Meaning somebody is running out of time to do things “赶时间”
I’m on a clock here! 我赶时间！
真正表达钟表的句子：There is a clock on the wall. 在墙上有一座钟

clock in 上班打卡；记录上班时间
clock out/clock off 下班打卡
这里的“clock”是动词，英文的解释是：to record working hours with a time clock，即，以钟表记录工作时间。
We clock in at 9 a.m. and out at 6 p.m. 我们早上9点上班，下午6点下班。
上下班打卡除了clock这个单词外，还可以用punch这个词表达，源于早期的打卡器（time clock）功能是在一张专门的计时卡片（time card）上打出小洞（punch holes），以记录上下班时间。因而clock in可以换成punch in，clock out可替换为punch out。表达的意思都是一致的。
Don’t forget to punch in and out . 上下班别忘记打卡。
around the clock 夜以继日地；不眠不休地；24小时全天候营业地
Some stores stay open around the clock, while others do business for only a few hours a day. 有些商店昼夜营业，有些每天只开门营业几个小时。We are studying around the clock when we are preparing for the final exam. 我们在准备期末考试的时候，夜以继日的学习。
